We are committed to providing high quality, affordable homes for our local communities, and play a key role in developing new homes in the area. These schemes range from large regeneration projects to small rural developments and are largely available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
Transforming Disused Garage Sites into New Homes
We have carried out a review of our existing garage sites to identify the potential to replace them with new homes, if they are unused or in need of extensive repairs, which forms part of our commitment to building more quality, affordable homes for local people. As part of this process we identified four sites to redevelop, consulting with local residents to keep them informed of our plans.
The four sites, which have all been granted planing persmission, are:
- Hartnup Street - we will replace 31 garages with two 2-bed houses available for shared ownership, seven new garages, and four parking bays.
- Francis Lane, Park Wood - the demolition of 27 garages and replacing with seven x 3-bed houses, two x 2-bed houses and 14 rentable spaces. This site will include four shared ownership properties.
- Bicknor Road - we will develop four bungalows for affordable rent. Work will start on site late 2017 / early 2018
- The Beacons, Coxheath - replacing garages with three one-bed bungalows for affordable rent.
We are pleased to announce we have instructed local constructions companies DCB (Kent) Ltd and Chartway Construction to re-develop these sites for us, producing a total of 18 new homes, 7 garages and rented parking spaces.
