Preparing For A Move

people with keys Once you are shortlisted for an offer of accommodation with Golding Homes, the run up to moving in could all happen very quickly – in some cases within a week. It is therefore important to make sure you are prepared to move within the required time frames.

  • Make sure you have your Rent in Advance saved up
Even if you are going to be claiming full Housing Benefit, you will still be required to pay one week’s Rent in Advance for any Golding Homes property you are offered. Not being able to pay the Rent in Advance when you are offered a property will count as a refusal, and may result in your priority date being reset.
  • Ensure your current home is in a good condition
If you are a current Golding Homes tenant, your home must be in a decent condition before you are able to move. We carry out pre-transfer inspections and will make you aware of any issues which will need to be addressed before moving. If you are aware of any repairs which you are responsible for as the tenant, we would recommend addressing these issues as soon as possible to prevent any delays with your move.
  • Have a clear rent account
Golding Homes will not accept applicants with rent arrears relating to either a current or former tenancy. This applies to tenancies held with Golding Homes and any other landlords. If you are bidding on properties with Golding Homes, it is important to have a clear rent account or be able to evidence that you have been working to significantly reduce any rent arrears.
  • Check your required notice period
If you are currently renting a property that doesn’t belong to Golding Homes, make sure you know how much notice you are required give to end your tenancy.
  • Make sure all your information is up to date with your Local Authority
If you have been asked to provide further evidence or documentation to support your housing application make sure you submit this as soon as possible.  Failure to do so could result in your application not being verified and bypassed for a property you have bid on
