Get Growing with our new gardening project
Growing your own food is a fun and healthy way to fill your plate. It can help cut the carbon footprint of your food, boost your mood and your health, and give you a chance to get involved with your local community. Additionally, you can support those in need, by giving back any surplus you grow to help support local Food Banks and Community Support Groups or, share with your neighbours.
Working with Hands of Hope we are providing our residents with an opportunity to get involved in growing your own food, in whatever space you have whether this is in a pot, patio, or your garden. You can do this at home, at school, as part of a community allotment or garden. If you are experienced great, if not, don't worry, it's all about trowel and error!
For those interested in getting involved you will be provided with Growing Kits to get you started including seeds, compost, pots, and instructions. Growing can happen anywhere – garden, big or small, greenhouse, kitchen, windowsill. You provide details of your growing space and leave the rest to us. The Growing Kits will include:
- A range of organic, in-season seeds from vegetables to herbs, chosen specifically for your growing space;
- Instruction sheets for each plant you receive;
- Video links of growing sessions with our Head Gardener;
- Ongoing support to answer any questions you may have.
To “Get Growing” simply email info@hohcharity.co.uk or register online.
Hands of Hope just need to know where you are for delivery, what space you have to grow and they'll take it from there.
