New Deputy Chair appointed

Golding Homes has appointed Ebele Akojie as its Deputy Chair.

Initially appointed to Golding's Board in December 2020 as Chair of the Treasury Committee, Ebele was additionally appointed Deputy Chair in September 2022.

Ebele has held a range of senior roles in finance and operations, with over 20 years of Board experience, and has been Finance Director at three G15 housing associations. She was previously Chair of the Audit and Assurance Committee at Paragon Housing (now PA Housing) for six years.

Speaking about her appointment, Ebele said: “I’m delighted to be appointed Deputy Chair of the Board and I’m particularly pleased to be able to continue to support Golding Homes on its important mission to deliver outstanding services, great homes and proud communities.

“I look forward to working closely with the Chair and my other Board colleagues to help shape Golding Homes’ future, as it goes from strength to strength.”

Chris Cheeseman, Chair of Golding Homes, said: “Ebele already brings a wealth of professional experience to our Board, and I know she will excel as Deputy Chair. I’m looking forward to working closely with Ebele to achieve our vision.”

Golding’s Board meets regularly to review the performance of the business and give strategic direction to the Executive team, providing governance and scrutiny to ensure the business is meeting its objectives. Earlier this year, Golding Homes saw its governance rating returned to G1 by the Regulator of Social Housing, which the Board was instrumental in delivering.

News of this appointment comes as we celebrate Black History Month and the Chartered Institute of Housing’s new president Lara Oyedele launches her ‘In My Shoes’ campaign, which champions racial diversity in housing sector boardrooms.
