Our Golding Giving hardship fund is now closed - 20 May 2020.

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have launched a hardship fund called Golding Giving, to support residents who are struggling financially during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

The fund provides emergency financial support for essentials such as food, gas, and electricity, where other sources are not available to residents or their households.  It is a one-off payment of up to £100 paid directly into your bank account.

Golding Giving has been well received by residents with close to 100 applications being received in the first two days. One resident said: “Thank you so much for the hardship payment. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it in my account on Saturday morning. It came just at the right time for me and my four children. I filled up my cupboards and freezer and topped up some electric. Something less to worry about, thank you.”

Interim Chief Executive Sue Chalkley said: “We know these are challenging times for people and we want to do all we can to help. The Golding Giving hardship fund is one small way that we are trying to support our residents with money to buy food or pay bills.

"We’re also looking to support local community projects who are responding to Covid-19 with our Community Chest Fund and have provided five colleagues to work taking calls for Maidstone Borough Councils Community Hub.”

Another resident contacted Golding Homes as he was self-employed and struggling to pay the bills. He cried with relief when he was referred to the hardship fund and received a payment.

Golding Giving is a discretionary one-off payment of up to £100 for Golding Homes residents. The scheme has a limited fund and works on a first-come, first served basis, it is also limited to one award per household. The hardship payments must be related directly to consequences of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Remember if you are struggling at this time, we also offer a Tenancy Support service aimed at helping people with benefit applications and debt advice. There is also a Workwise scheme that can help residents back into work.
