Bargain hunters should make a note in their diary to join us at the official opening of our new Abacus furniture store in Shepway, on the outskirts of Maidstone on Tuesday 6 March.

The smart new shop in Northumberland Road, set up in partnership with Golding Homes, has been welcoming customers for a few weeks now, but is holding a special opening celebration, with 10 per cent off all pre-loved items, on Tuesday. 

As well as bargains throughout the store there will be cake and juice on offer as we celebrate the opening of this long-awaited new store. "We had to close our popular Parkwood premises as part of the redevelopment of the area, and when the temporary shop we opened in Senacre Square also closed last April, it left our loyal customers with nowhere to go. They have been telling us how much they missed us," explained retail supervisor Kim Palmer

The shop sells a wide range of pre-owned furniture, homeware and clothes at low prices, with the aim of helping the less well off while extending the lives of things that might otherwise end up in landfill.

“We want to help people set up a nice home without landing themselves in debt,” said Kim. "We are looking forward to seeing customers old and new at our celebration event next week. The cake is on us and there will be lots of bargains on offer."

Golding Homes’ Head of Community Development Caroline McBride, has said: "Abacus provides a much needed service for those living in our local communities as well as offering some great volunteering opportunities."

The refreshments will be on offer to visitors between 10am and noon, with the shop itself open from 8.30am until 4.30pm each day.
