Bringing festive cheer to those in need this Christmas
Families and individuals suffering from domestic abuse have received some festive cheer this week thanks to the delivery of Christmas food hampers.
Staff at Golding Homes voted for Choices domestic abuse charity to receive their annual Christmas food hampers, donated by the organisation's community arm, Golding Vision.
The Choices charity, based in Maidstone and working across North Kent and Medway, provide specialist domestic abuse services to women, men, and children who have suffered from domestic abuse. The charity aims to work towards a world where domestic abuse is understood as totally unacceptable, where all members of society feel safe in their own homes and are able to enjoy healthy relationships free from violence and abuse.
Roz Gabriel, Operations Manager at Choices Domestic Abuse Service said; "On behalf of the whole team, I would like to express our gratitude to Golding Homes staff for their generosity and thoughtfulness to the individuals and families that Choices support, especially at this difficult time of year. Your kind donation will validate to our service users that they are not alone, judged or forgotten. Compassion and kindness to another human being is an empowering feeling for both the giver and the receiver."
Sarah Leipnik, Community Development Advisor at Golding Homes said: “For the last 10 years we have donated Christmas food hampers to those in need. This year is no exception. Choices is a fantastic local charity helping to make a difference to people’s lives during very difficult circumstances. I am so pleased that we have been able to support Choices and hope our hampers go a little way to helping bring some cheer over the festive season.”
The food hampers will be shared out to the families most in need; all of them living in temporary accommodation after fleeing domestic abuse.
"For these families, they are having a really difficult time adjusting to life in temporary accommodation, so having treats is impossible for them. There will be smiles on the faces of these families for the first time in a long time. Thank you, Golding Homes" said Roz.
