Community Chest Grant helps fund local school's Senior Citizen Christmas Party

Year 9 pupils at New Line Learning Academy held their annual Christmas Party this week for senior citizens. The pupils have organised the party themselves, from sending out invitations, arranging transport and food, putting on the entertainment, and even serving the food. We were delighted to be able to fund £1000 towards to the party as part of our Community Chest Grant Fund.
Caroline McBride, Head of Community Development, said: “We are proud that through our Community Chest Grant we are able to contribute towards this inter-generational event, whilst continuing to develop our close working partnership with New Line Learning.”
Jamie Mitchell, English Teacher at NLL Academy, said: "This is the 47th Celebration of this event. We do this for the Christmas Spirit. The joy our guests bring the students is absolutely wonderful, they show us what Christmas Spirit is about. It’s a fantastic event for teachers as well as the students.”
Anne Rhodes, resident of Golding Homes, said: "I think this is 5 star service, the children are excellent. The whole atmosphere of the Christmas party is great."
Maureen Finnis, also a resident, really enjoyed the Christmas Party, "I think the ambiance was superb, the children are a great credit to the school and everyone was so polite. You could not fault the children.”
New Line Learning Academy is a non-selective secondary school for students aged 11-18 in Maidstone. The school is part of The Future Schools Trust together with Cornwallis Academy, Tiger Primary School and Little Learners Nursery.
