Domestic abuse - we're here to help and support

It’s the time of year when traditionally drink flows freely, and many gather to celebrate. But for some, Christmas can mean emotionally charged situations and stresses which result in violence. National Abuse Helpline figures tell us it’s a time when cases of domestic abuse increase.

Domestic abuse can be physical violence or emotional or controlling behaviour, it’s a serious crime and not acceptable at any time. It can happen to anybody, and anyone can be an abuser.

You don’t have to suffer in silence; you’re not alone and help is available. If domestic violence is happening to you, it’s important that you tell someone.

We’re all asked to look out for signs of those enduring domestic abuse. If you suspect someone is being abused support them to get help now.

Call 999 if it’s an emergency or you’re in immediate danger.
