Gold sustainability rating awarded for the second year runningĀ
We've been awarded a gold rating for sustainability for the second year in a row.
SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow) is the sustainability standard for the social housing sector, and benchmarks best practice across the industry.
This is the third year Golding’s been audited by SHIFT, having achieved silver in 2022 and gold for the first time in 2023, demonstrating a year-on-year environmental improvement.
This year, Golding was ranked second out of the 40 most recent assessments, with a 4% increase on last year’s score. A range of environmental criteria is looked at in the assessment, including the energy and water efficiency of homes, the sustainability of new developments and the environmental performance of the business.
In its Environmental Sustainability Strategy, Golding Homes has committed to reducing its impact on the environment, including making its homes warmer and more affordable to run. This financial year we're investing £22 million to make improvements to over 2,000 of our homes, including new kitchens, bathrooms, boilers, windows, doors, roofs and insulation.
Lucy Breeze, Sustainability Manager at Golding Homes, said:
“It’s fantastic to achieve the SHIFT Gold accreditation for the second year in a row, and it's testament to the commitment of colleagues to reduce our environmental impact across all areas of the business.
“We’re putting a lot of work into improving the energy efficiency of our homes, including making sure every home has an EPC C rating by 2030. We’re also making sure any new developments we deliver have sustainability at their heart, including solar panels, EV chargers, swift boxes and sustainable drainage where possible.
“It’s encouraging to see a year-on-year improvement in our scores for the third year running , which we hope to continue for years to come as we work towards a net zero carbon footprint.”
