Golding Homes completes its first homes in Canterbury

Golding Homes housing association has completed its first homes in Canterbury, providing 23 homes for shared ownership and affordable rent, off Littlebourne Road in the city.
The expansion into Canterbury is part of a development plan which has already seen the Maidstone-based organisation provide good quality affordable homes in Tonbridge & Malling, Medway, Ashford and Tunbridge Wells.
The development of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and hour-bedroom houses is being constructed by Abbey Homes. The first new properties for affordable rent were available for people on the Canterbury City Council housing register and are now filled; the shared ownership homes will be marketed in the summer.
Resident Sophie Lee moved into one of the new properties in March. She said “I feel so lucky to have moved into a lovely new home and am looking forward to a happy future here with my daughter”.
Peter Stringer, Chief Executive of Golding Homes, said “This is a great opportunity to provide good-quality affordable homes to rent or buy for more local people. We have worked closely with Canterbury City Council to ensure that the homes met the needs of the local community.”
