Golding Homes spreads some Christmas Joy to local Charity
Christmas came early to a Maidstone charity this week thanks to a donation of food hampers from Golding Vision, the community arm of housing association Golding Homes.
Each year Golding Vision donates Christmas hampers to a local charity, voted for by the housing associations' employees. This year staff chose Maidstone and Mid Kent Mind to receive the festive fayre, an organisation which offers support to people experiencing mental health problems.
The hampers, which include main food staples and Christmas items, were delivered to MMK Mind’s Recovery and Wellbeing Centre in Maidstone by Golding Homes’ Community Development Team.
Sarah Leipnik, Community Development Advisor, said: “Christmas for most is a merry time of year but for some it can also be difficult and lonely. Local charities, like MMK Mind, deliver vital services to the local community all year round and we are pleased to be able to show our support by offering some festive joy to those in need with the food hampers.”
Julie Blackmore, CEO at MMK Mind said: “MMK Mind provide much needed support for those experiencing mental health problems, giving people a place to go where they don’t feel so alone.”
“Food donations at Christmas enable us to further support people by ensuring they have food over Christmas when many may be lonely and isolated. At MMK Mind we are extremely grateful to Golding Homes for supporting our most vulnerable clients over the festive period.”
Working with individuals, MMK Mind helps to develop skills to aid recovery, and encourage self-management of wellbeing. Through various projects, the organisation promotes a better understanding of mental health. The charity will be distributing the hampers during their support groups over the next few weeks.
