Golding Homes to develop former hospital site with Oliver Davis Homes
Golding Homes has entered into contract with Oliver Davis Homes for the development of the former Somerfield Hospital site in Maidstone.
Somerfield Terrace, as it will be known, has planning approval for 73 new homes, which will be made up of mixed size flats and houses for market rent, shared ownership, social rent and discount market sale. A proportion of the new homes will also be built using modern methods of construction.
The Somerfield Hospital site dates back to 1850 and was formerly a private and military hospital. The site includes four blocks of Grade II listed semi-detached villas which will be converted, allowing some of the original features to be preserved.
Tom Casey, Director of Development and Sales at Golding Homes, said: “I’m delighted that we have completed this deal with Kent developer Oliver David Homes.
“Maidstone is our key development area and these sustainable new homes will help create a new mixed tenure community, meeting the housing needs of local people and offering real choice for our customers.”
Work has now started on site and the first phase is expected to be complete by autumn 2022, with the whole development due to complete in spring 2023.
