Golding Homes welcomes new Chairman

We are delighted to welcome our new Board Chairman, Chris Cheeseman.

With over 30 years’ experience within the affordable housing sector, Chris is currently Head of New Business at Clarion Housing Group.  Previously he was a  Director at ikon Consultancy Ltd, which provided specialist housing and regeneration advice to the property industry, and spent 17 years at Moat Housing Group as the Group Director of New Business and Development where he was responsible for the delivery of a £100million development programme.

Chris has a strong background in residential development and has worked with housing associations, local authorities, public agencies and the private sector on a range of mixed use regeneration projects, housing private finance initiatives (PFIs), and public/private sector partnerships, as well as previously working for the Housing Corporation

During his career, Chris was instrumental in securing a housing contract with private sector partners for the Ashford Stanhope PFI, and also led on a large regeneration project at Christanfields, North Kent Thameside, working in partnership with Countryside Properties.

Chris took up the role as Chair designate in June and will transition towards replacing our current chairman, Roger Ford, who retires after serving his full term in December.

Gary Clark, Chief Executive for Golding Homes said:  “We are really delighted to welcome Chris as our new Chairman, who brings with him a huge amount of experience within the private and public residential sector.  This is a really exciting and challenging time for Golding Homes as we launch our ambitious new strategic plan and Chris’ leadership and expertise will be invaluable in taking the organisation forward.”

“I would also like to thank our outgoing Chairman, Roger Ford for his valuable contribution to the success of Golding Homes. Under Roger’s strategic leadership and excellent stewardship, the organisation has grown and flourished to become financially strong, with an excellent reputation for building quality affordable homes and investing in its local communities.

Speaking about his appointment, Chris Cheeseman said: “This is a really challenging and exciting time to be joining Golding Homes and I look forward to working with the Board to help shape the future direction of the organisation.”

Reflecting on his Chairmanship, Roger Ford said: “It has been a great privilege to lead the organisation and work alongside a great team of talented people who are committed to delivering quality homes, great customer service and making a difference to the lives of our residents. The success and strong management of the organisation was recognised at the end of last year after achieving the top rating from the regulator for governance and viability of G1/V1

Golding Homes owns and manages over 7,300 homes across Kent and since being established in 2004 it has invested over £150m in large scale regeneration projects, as well as supported its residents through a £3m community investment programme.
