The government furlough scheme and temporary uplift in Universal Credit will be ending at the end of September. If you are affected by, or worried about these changes we’re here to help.

What’s changing?

The uplift in Universal Credit (UC) started in April 2020 as a response to the Coronavirus. From October 2021, the majority of people that claim UC will see a reduction in their standard allowances of £20 per week (£86.67 per month) when this uplift is removed.

Furlough was introduced in Spring 2020, to stop people being put out of work by their employers during lockdown. This government scheme will be ending on 30 September.
