Improving the energy efficiency of our homes
From this month, we’re starting a programme of works to improve the energy efficiency of our homes that don’t currently meet EPC C (Energy Performance Certificate) ratings.
Our contractor, Breyer Group, will be working on homes that currently have an EPC D rating to get it to a C or above. You can check your EPC rating here: Find an energy certificate - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
Breyer Group will start surveying homes this month to identify what needs to be done to bring homes up to standard, save energy and reduce customers’ bills. The improvement measures they’ll be identifying will include: low energy lights, loft insulation top ups, cavity wall insulation, glazing improvements/replacements and hot water cylinder insulation.
If your home is part of this plan, Breyer will be contacting customers directly by letter with more information and to make an appointment for the survey. Please do allow Breyer into your home to help us identify the work needed.
What are the benefits of these works?
- Lower emissions and energy costs
- Warmer, more comfortable homes that are healthier to live in
- Helping with the Government’s target of Net Carbon Zero by 2050
Last year we also completed a successful solar panel project on 11 bungalows and we’re monitoring the reductions to customers’ bills, which will lead to a programme of further solar panel installations on existing homes.
