Our customer wins a Kent Housing Group award!
Congratulations to Golding customer Paul Jenkins, who won the Unsung Community Hero category in this year's Kent Housing Group awards.
Paul was described by Golding colleagues and neighbours as “inspirational” and “positive with a can-do attitude”, who loves nothing more than bringing people together and helping others.
Paul's been a customer at Bethersden Court, Maidstone, for five years and was recognised by the awards body for totally transforming the communal garden space for the benefit of his neighbours. He’s revamped old benches, created planters to brighten the area and supported and encouraged his neighbours to come outside, socialise and enjoy the space, despite having a number of health issues.
Paul said: “I was quite emotional when I heard them call out my name. It’s so nice to be recognised for the work I’ve done. I’ve always wanted to create an environment where I live that brings people together to socialise because I think it’s so important for your mental health. Having a community is all about helping and supporting people and I love being able to help.”
Steph Goad, Chief Executive Golding Homes, said: “Paul's doing some amazing things in his community and for charity, helping so many people. We’re so pleased he’s been recognised by these awards. We’re actively looking to celebrate other customers, like Paul, who are helping to make a positive difference to their communities.”
