Mayor of Ashford to officially open new supported housing scheme in Ashford

The Mayor of Ashford, Winston Michael, will officially open a new supported housing scheme in Ashford, on Thursday 29 June at 11am.
Belgic Court at The Limes, Ashford, supports vulnerable young people with their transition from care to independent living and consists of eight self contained fully furnished one bedroom flats.
The scheme has been developed by Golding Homes in partnership with Ashford Borough Council and Kent County Council, and is now managed by Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL). SSL manages the scheme and provides housing related support to 16-25 year olds who need help in developing the necessary life skills to live independently. As part of this support they will be taught how to maintain a tenancy, be offered assistance with training and job opportunities as well as given help and advice with budgeting and confidence building.
Chris Blundell, Director of Development and Commercial Services at Golding Homes said: “We are delighted to see the completion of this really important purpose built scheme to support young people leaving care. This project is designed to ensure these young adults are not only provided with a comfortable home that they can call their own, but they receive the very best support as they make their first step towards independent living.”
SSL Regional Service Manager Leslie Morson said: “We’re looking forward to meeting with our partners and stakeholders as we officially launch the personalised support that will help our clients to develop the skills they need to live independently.”
