New mental health service opens doors in Maidstone
Mental Health Matters (MHM) have launched a new mental health service, Kent Safe Havens, in Maidstone for face-to-face contact. This is a free, out-of-hours service, operating from 6pm-11pm, 365 days a year.
Anyone aged 16+ who is experiencing distress in the Maidstone area can access one-to-one, confidential emotional support, and information from the Maidstone Safe Haven located at:
Maidstone Mind
23 College Road
Maidstone
ME15 6YH
No formal referral or appointment is required, and clients can access the service directly by calling/texting 07484 061684 or 07483 155058 or by emailing maidstone.mhm@nhs.net.
The Kent Safe Havens offer a welcoming, safe, comfortable, non-judgmental and non-clinical environment. The emphasis is on reducing immediate distress, and supporting visitors to access services and opportunities available to them in the wider community. There are four Havens across Kent, visit mhm.org.uk for further details.
You can access one-to-one emotional support from trained mental health professionals. They also offer help in creating staying well and crisis plans, and support visitors to access other services and organisations that may be useful to them.
Following government guidelines, please attend wearing a face shield. Friends and family will be asked to wait outside to ensure social distancing and limit the numbers in the building.
