Our Employee Health and Wellbeing Programme shortlisted for Personnel Today Award

Golding Homes is amongst some of the major national companies including British Gas and John Lewis Partnership, to be shortlisted as a finalist in the health and wellbeing category at the Personnel Today Awards 2016.
We launched the Golding Wellbeing Programme in 2015 to focus on improving the health and wellbeing of our employees through various projects including free flu vaccinations, exercise classes and free health checks. A project team was set up to organise and run the events, engaging staff through awareness days, health months and lunchtime wellbeing sessions.
A launch event was organised to challenge staff to walk, jog, run, row or cycle a target distance of 300km which raised £500 for Heart of Kent Hospice, our charity of the year. Other activities included a month dedicated to staff Mind Wellness where employees were able to trial activities such as yoga, meditation, and a craft class, alongside mental health awareness training.
We also introduced a daily healthy lunch option in our on-site restaurant as well as a choice of healthy snacks such as nuts, seeds and fruit pots. Since the launch of the wellbeing project we have seen many of our employees sign up to a local gym, take part in various exercise challenges and marathons as well as giving up smoking.
In combining some of the Health and Wellbeing activities with charity fundraising, we have raised approximately £1,000 for Heart of Kent Hospice, the British Heart Foundation and Movember.
Since the launch of the Golding Wellbeing Programme, we have seen a 50% reduction in the organisation’s sickness absence levels and has been successful in raising staff awareness about how to improve their health and wellbeing.
Jillie Smithies, our Director of Operations said: “The Golding Wellbeing programme has been a fantastic success in terms of the impact on employee wellbeing and reduced absence levels. This has been a win-win project for both employees and the organisation.”
The Personnel Today Awards, which takes place at The Grosvenor Hotel, London on 22 November, recognise organisations, teams and individuals that have made an impact with their people policies and have delivered tangible benefits to their organisation.
