Shepway Community Larder receives funding boost
A partnership between Golding Homes and local security firm TMS Protection has helped secure a funding boost of £200 a month for the Shepway Community Larder.
The Community Larder is run by Maidstone Borough Council, from Golding’s Shepway Hub at the heart of the Cambridge Crescent regeneration scheme, where TMS provides site security.
The larder aims to help local people who are struggling to afford healthy food and is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-1pm. For a £3 donation, customers can choose from a selection of fresh fruit produce, bakery items, store cupboard ingredients and household products.
After learning about the Community Larder through its work with Golding Homes, TMS Protection has made a one-off donation of £500 and committed to making further donations of £200 a month so the larder can continue to provide its valuable service for local people.
Golding Homes is currently investing in a multi-million-pound regeneration of the Cambridge Crescent area of Shepway, with demolition work now underway on phase one of its plans. Once complete, the area will benefit from 236 new, energy-efficient affordable homes, a modern shopping area, improved landscaping and community facilities.
Tom Casey, Director of Development and Strategic Asset Management at Golding Homes , said:
“We’re delighted that TMS Protection is supporting the Shepway Community Larder and thank them for their generous donation. We’re pleased to have played our part in bringing them together. The donation will help make a difference. As a local landlord we’re always looking for ways to make a positive contribution to our neighbourhoods. ”
Tom Devine, Managing Director of TMS Protection, said:
“After learning about the positive impact the community larder is having on local residents , and how it needs support from local business to continue proving nutritious meals to people facing financial struggles, we felt we had to help.
“Our donations will have a direct impact on those in need and it’s a way for us to give back and make a positive difference to others. We’re excited to be part of this project and hope our donations can make a meaningful difference to the lives of the individuals and families that the community larder supports.”
Anne Mansfield, Senior Co-ordinator at the Community Larder said:
“We're absolutely thrilled to have a prestigious company such as TMS Protection supporting Shepway Community Larder with regular financial donations. It was great to welcome them to the Larder and for them to recognise the value of what we do and to see first-hand the direct positive impact it is having on the local residents of Shepway. For them, having this resource in the community is life-changing and we could not continue this essential service without the support of forward-thinking local businesses such as TMS Protection.
“Anyone could find themselves in a situation where they might need a little help sometimes and we are there for those times.”
