Shepway regeneration plans given the green light
Planning permission has been granted for the regeneration of the Cambridge Crescent and Northumberland Court areas of Shepway in Maidstone.
Local housing association Golding Homes’ multi-million-pound plans for the area have now been approved by Maidstone Borough Council.
The regeneration will see 114 existing homes and shops replaced with 236 new, energy-efficient affordable homes and a modern shopping area, improved landscaping and community facilities.
Tom Casey, Director of Development and Sustainability at Golding Homes, said:
“We’re delighted to receive planning approval for our proposal to invest in Shepway.
“This follows our conversations and consultation with the local community over the last 18 months to shape the designs. We’re now looking forward to planning the next steps of the project and working together with local residents, businesses and community partners to create a vibrant community where people are proud to live.”
Councillor Marion Ring, who represents Shepway North, added:
“The planning approval is really good for Shepway and I’m really pleased to hear this news”.
Now the scheme has planning permission, Golding Homes will begin detailed consultation with customers affected by phase one of the plans.
