Supporting International Volunteer Day
Today is International Volunteer Day, and to celebrate we’re sharing experiences from Golding staff who have taken part in our own volunteering scheme, Golding Giveback.
Golding Giveback is for staff to give a day back to the community by volunteering with a local charity. We’ve had great attendance already, with people completing their volunteering opportunities days at hospices, food banks, the YMCA and more. Read some of their stories and highlights below.

“As part of the Golding Giveback scheme, I was very fortunate to take part in the “Get Online” week at the Royal British Legion Village.
In order to take part, I completed an online course to become a Digital Champion so I was able to help others with basic computer skills such as setting up passwords, job searching, uploading CV’s amongst other things.
This experience was really rewarding and it was great to be able to help out the local community, offering help and advice.”

“I couldn’t recommend highly enough taking up the opportunity to ‘give back’ to a charity for a day. For me, it also gave me great inspiration to see the daily work of the charity I am a Trustee of.”

“I was keen to help for the day at Spadework. To start the day I had a guided tour of the 7-acre site with trainees, seeing the wildlife area, greenhouses, veg patch, shop and café. Then I helped in the kitchen, preparing vegetables and overseeing a trainee weighing and mixing a huge flapjack.
In the afternoon we had a walk to collect autumn leaves for a craft session.
The trainees and the staff were so friendly and made the day very special for me. I admire the ideas and work of Spadework and will hope to support their shop, garden centre, and café in the future.”

“As a result of our volunteering day through the Golding Giveback project, we have now both now signed up to be full volunteers with the Heart of Kent Hospice!
We both really felt we wanted to support them and the amazing work that they do and we can do that by giving a little something back to them, which is our time."
