Tackling anti-social behaviour in our Homes

A few months ago one of our properties was raided by the Police as they believed class “A” drugs were being used and dealt. This followed information given to them from neighbours and intelligence they had gathered themselves.

The Police obtained a warrant and raided the property finding used needles throughout the home. During the search they also found 18 wraps of class “A” drugs.

Working  closely with the Police meant our Community Safety Advisor, Stephen Timms, was able to enter the home with the Police and see first hand how it was being used.

Both occupants of the property were arrested, and at court one received a four year prison sentence for supplying drugs and the other one received a community order for possession of class “A” drugs.  Due to the breach of tenancy conditions we evicted the tenants from their home.

Stephen said: “We take drug dealing very seriously because of the impact it has on society and the immediate neighbourhood.  Eviction is always our last resort and we consider very carefully before applying to the court. In these circumstances we felt that the behaviour was so bad we immediately applied to the County Court for possession of the property.  The impact that the behaviour was having on their neighbours meant that eviction was reasonable and justified and this was supported by the court’s decision to grant the eviction.”
