The fight against fly-tipping
We have seen a huge increase in fly-tipping across our neighbourhoods since lockdown began. Our teams are seeing more cases of non-domestic waste being dumped in communal bin areas and on our estates.
Removing illegally fly-tipped items is extremely expensive and not part of the service we provide. The cost of collecting these items is added on to your service charge, meaning everyone is penalised for the people fly-tipping.
We need your help to tackle fly-tipping and misuse of communal bin areas, so would really welcome your thoughts and ideas to support us in doing this. If you have any suggestions please contact our Environmental Services Team by emailing stephen.humphrey@goldinghomes.org.uk or calling 01622 212740.
If you see fly-tipping taking place, it is really important that you report this to your local authority or if it is in a Golding Homes area, you can report it to us. Fly tipping is illegal and could incur a substantial fine or prison sentence if caught.
You can dispose of waste at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC). Kent County Council has announced that these are now open for essential use, but you will need to book a slot to use them. To find your nearest centre or to book your slot please visit KCC’s rubbish and recycling page on their website.
Some councils also offer a bulky waste collection for a small fee, for items such as old sofas, fridges or washing machines. Contact your local council to find out more.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us to keep your neighbourhoods clear, clean, and safe for everyone.
