Golding customer scoops up first We Care awards win
Golding Homes customer Paul Billanie was over the moon when he heard he was the first winner of our We Care awards – recognising silent heroes who positively contribute to the well-being of others.
Paul was put forward by Golding customer, Steve for helping and supporting his neighbours and local community for over 20 years. Steve said:
“Paul is really one of the best people I know. I’m dyslexic and can’t read or write very well. For years Paul has helped me to do so much, from filling out forms, writing letters and emails, to understanding the letters I get and claiming the benefits I’m entitled to. Paul is really supportive and explains that we all have different skills.”
Golding Homes’ Repairs Supervisor, Wayne Hepburn came up with the idea for the We Care awards. A winner is chosen by Golding’s Customer Insight Group every three months from nominations put forward by our customers. Wayne said:
“Working out and about in the community we hear about people going over and above to help others, so I wanted these silent heroes to be recognised. Paul is a great example of someone who goes that extra mile to help others. I’m really happy for him and look forward to celebrating more local heroes in the future.”
Winners of the We Care awards, choose a reward to the value of £250. Paul has chosen to get some new patio slabs for his back garden so he can enjoy sitting out there during the summer months. Paul said:
“I was really surprised to hear I’d won this award. I’m more than happy to help support people in any way I can. We all have different skills. I don’t know the first thing about car mechanics or carpentry so I would always turn to Steve for help with that.”
