We celebrate National Apprenticeship Week

Jacob Redding Apprentice

This year is the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week. We offer apprenticeships in Business Administration across the organisation with opportunities to work in Community Development, Housing Management and Property Services. Some of our apprentices have moved onto permanent roles within Golding Homes or have been successful in gaining new jobs in other organisations.

To kick-start National Apprenticeship Week we spoke to one of our Apprentices, Jacob Redding.

Jacob joined Golding Homes in February 2016 as Property Services Apprentice, providing administrative support to our repairs and maintenance team in Golding Services.  Jacob soon became a popular member of staff and his hard work paid off when he secured a permanent role within Golding Services as an Administrator Coordinator.

“I enjoying working here and the general atmosphere around the workplace is always very positive;” said Jacob. Wherever I go in the office, there is always a friendly face and someone to chat to.  Everyone has made me feel welcome here and part of the team, which has helped me settle into the job.”

Lynn Flitter, who manages the Customer First Team at Golding Homes sees the real difference that apprentices can make to the organisation. “Apprentices can enhance the working environment as their keenness to learn and be involved is almost contagious. Team members and other colleagues are always on hand for advice and guidance and are usually very happy to help in the training.  Megan is a great asset to the team and is always helpful,” said Lynn.

Golding Homes also offers a variety of employment support services to residents looking for work, which supports the wider local economy. If you are interested in an apprenticeship contact our Employment Advisor Amy Dennison.

National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

On Wednesday we will share with you how our Repairs and Maintenance partner, Mitie, recruit their Apprentices along with case studies from previous and current Electrical Apprentices; Kaylum, Alfie and Ryan.
