Here you'll find tips and advice on a range of fire safety topics.
Getting rid of bulky waste
If you're getting rid of large or bulky items that can't be taken with normal bin collections, it's really important that they aren’t dumped or flytipped, as this has an effect on everybody.
If items are left out, we’ll put a 24 hour notice sticker on them and if they’re not removed in this time, we’ll remove them at a cost. If we can’t identify who the item belonged to, the recharge cost will be applied to all neighbours through your service charges.
Flytipping makes our communities look untidy and bulky items left in bin stores could prevent your collection going ahead. If you live in a flat, it’s vital that communal areas are kept clear to prevent fire and trip hazards and to keep escape routes clear if evacuation is needed in an emergency.
You can get rid of unwanted items for free at your local household waste recycling centre, or arrange a collection with a local charity like Demelza, Heart of Kent Hospice, British Heart Foundation or MADM.
