Pets and Animals
If you have concerns about an animal, you should report this to the RSPCA.
Barking
If you are disturbed by your neighbour’s dog barking, try speaking with them first. They may not realise their dogs barking is disturbing your peace. If the barking is persistent and last for over 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days in one week, you can report it to us using the contact infomation at the end of this page.
Please read our page on Responsible Pet Ownership for how we address these issues.
If the barking is having a serious impact on you or the community, you can also contact your local authority for advice. You can find your local authority here.
Dangerous Dogs
A dangerous dog is defined as one that is dangerously out of control, and you're worried that it might bite, or has already bitten a person or an assistance dog. A dog may also be considered dangerous because of its breed. Click here to read more on Dangerous Dog Breeds.
You should report a dangerous dog to Kent Police. If you're concerned for your immediate safety, please call Kent Police on 999. Otherwise call 101 or report online.
Once you've reported it to Kent Police, make sure you also report it to us and include your crime reference number so that we can work with the Police.
Please read our page on Responsible Pet Ownership for how we address these issues.
Dog Fouling
It's illegal for dog owners to not clear up their dog’s waste in a public area. Anyone who fails to clear up after their dog can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100. If the case goes to court, this could cost the owner or person in charge of the dog up to £1000. Saying that you're unaware your dog has fouled or not having a bag with you is not a reasonable excuse.
If you witness someone not clearing up after their dog or dog fouling is a big problem in your neighbourhood, you should report it to your local authority. You can find your local authority here.
Please read our page on Responsible Pet Ownership for how we address these issues. If you know the dog owner is a Golding Home’s customer, you can report their behaviour to us in the following ways:
